What you think, You become – siddartha

Watch your thoughts, they become words.

Watch your words, they become actions.

Watch your actions, they become habits.

Watch your habits, they become character.

Watch your character, as it becomes your destiny.

have you ever thought about what you think about. what you meditate on. what you consume. music, books, movies and etc. this morning i read an article about the supreme court calling a california law that prohibited children under a certain age from purchasing video games with excessively violent themes. now i think parents need to regulate what their kids consume and not the government but what was the sentiment behind the law. it was that exposure to such material at an impressionable age can make the subjects desentized to images or acts of violence. i think thats a little bit of a stretch but not an unfounded or unrational stretch based on some research. but thats not what we’re here to discuss. as I read that, i thought to myself, are there things that affect our mood and etc? there are. music does that. t.v. and movies certainly do that and so do books. thats why I think its imperative, at least for me, to watch what it is I consume daily, weekly, monthly. does it include those things that are holy, pure, noble and right? and how does a lack of that in my diet affect my life. if our minds are the incubator/most fertile ground. what havoc does birds of pray such as unbelief, doubt, fear, insecurity do that ground?  hmmmm these are just questions to ponder this tuesday.

let’s resolve to renew our minds daily. get that filter cleaned out.
