The Shine Project

A couple of months ago I bought this necklace from the site above. One thing I love about social entrepreneurship and social media is that you can support great causes easily while also looking cute. and this project really struck my attention, not only are the necklaces so cute but the idea is to raise money for scholarships for students in AZ to be the first in the family to go to college. Don’t we all love stories and projects like that and wish we had the time, creativity and know how to do something like that locally…you may not have the time or creativity but you do have a spare $12-15 dollars which can go along way towards helping students have a hope and a future.

I’m thinking about getting some for my Small Group girls but Would you join me in supporting this beautiful cause.

rescued and restored

“We have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. 2 Corinthians 5:16”

Acts 10:28 says, “God has shown me that he doesn’t think anyone is unclean or unfit.”

But the guy in the cubicle next to you makes racist jokes.  Doesn’t he notice that your skin is black?

He has a rebel flag as a screen saver.  Your great-grandfather was a slave.  You’d love nothing more than to distance yourself from this guy.

Consider being the superintendent of an orphanage.  You come across a birth certificate with a troubling word: illegitimate.  And you learn it is a permanent label.  It’s what Edna Gladney discovered.  Can you imagine living with such a label?  Mrs. Gladney couldn’t.  It took her three years, but in 1936 she successfully lobbied the Texas legislature to remove the term from birth certificates.

Let’s view people differently.  Let’s view them as we do ourselves.

Blemished, perhaps.  Unfinished, for certain!

Yet once rescued and restored—we may shed light!

trending tuesday [#famouslies]

I read this post by Kerri Weems at and literally laughed out loud. these are my favorite ones:

“I need to focus more on my relationship with God right now, and I can’t be distracted with dating.” Translation: I need a good reason to break up with you because “I’m not attracted to you anymore” is just too unchristlike. #famouslies

“We can still be friends.” Translation: I can’t stand disappointing you, so will you accept the first runner up prize? #famouslies

how funny are those? LOL!
