Today a personal inspiration and world hero has passed away. Margaret Thatcher, The UK’s first female prime minister changed the way Britons and, ultimately the world, viewed politics and economics and even the leadership capabilities of women. I am personally grateful for her life and legacy. She believed that all leaders should have strong convictions and its her strong convictions that lead to her role in guiding the United States and Russia out of the cold war and England out of an economic structure that was deepening their financial debt. She moved for the privatization of many industries that were run by the government and was a vocal advocate of smaller government. Below is one of my favorite quotes from her:
“Where there is discord, may we bring harmony. Where there is error, may we bring truth. Where there is doubt, may we bring faith. And where there is despair, may we bring hope.” – on her election as prime minister in 1979
great article on her by CNN called “Why Margaret Thatcher was both icon and outcast?” and New York Times article ‘Tributes pour in for Margaret Thatcher’.
